Pisces Catch and Release Policy

Pisces are committed to sustainable fishing and promote catch and release. Some of the photos in this slideshow depict marlin and large tuna being weighed at the scales. Some tournaments only give points for fish over a certain size being brought to the scales and so some fish are killed. This is changing gradually in the sport in general but at this time it does happen occasionally. Also, large marlin can die during the fight and so are brought aboard. Our crews do all in their power to avoid this by backing down aggressively on marlin once they are hooked up and only using circle hooks to avoid gut or deep hooking fish. They will lift a fish onboard for a quick photo if asked before the release and this is generally deemed to have minimum impact on such a large and otherwise healthy fish. Anglers are welcome to bring dorado, tuna & wahoo aboard (within fish and game limits) and our staff will be happy to assist you in the filleting, freezing, mounting or smoking of your catch. We can also deliver to Captain Tony’s Restaurant on the marina, where a delicious meal will be prepared using your own fresh fish for a minimal charge. We promote the catch and release of marlin, though federal fishing regulations do actually allow for one marlin per boat per day to be killed. Marlin is considered a second rate eating fish and the smaller game species such as dorado, tuna and wahoo are preferred for the table. If you would like a trophy mount, please ask the dockmaster; we offer release replica mounts for fish that are put back or mounts with real fish parts if the fish is killed.

All fish killed are used for food by the anglers and the families of the Pisces crews: nothing is wasted and nothing is sold.
